The "Open Dream Colors" is a blockchain education art project that combines the realms of creativity and technology. It serves as an interactive platform where individuals can explore and deepen their understanding of blockchain while expressing their visions through colors. Participants are encouraged to learn about the fundamentals of blockchain technology, its decentralized nature, and its potential applications.

They can then contribute their dream color to a shared digital canvas, representing their aspirations and dreams within the blockchain space. Each color added is recorded on the blockchain, ensuring transparency and immutability, thus fostering a collaborative and decentralized art experience.

Through this project, people not only gain knowledge about blockchain but also become active participants in a collective artistic endeavor.

To participate in this canvas you would need to follow some steps:

step 1 | Install your wallet 🎒

Install a Polkadot-compatible wallet extension for your browser. I'm now using Subwallet, mainly because is Ethereum-compatible.

You can also try Talisman, an (only) Polkadot ecosystem-compatible wallet.

  1. go to https://www.subwallet.app/download.html

  2. Choose the browser you are using:

  3. For example Chrome. You'll be redirected to the page to install the extension and click "Add to Chrome".

  4. Then click on "Create a new account" and input a strong password that would be asked each time you use the extension.

  5. Now the system would generate a random wallet. You would need to write them down on a piece of paper and put it in a safe place. It's important to copy them in the same order.

Step 2 | Ask for Roc token in the Parachain contracts from the testnet rococo πŸ€‘

To interact with the Open Color app (add a color to the canvas) you would need to have some Roc to pay the gas fee. Always you change the state of the blockchain, you would need to pay for the gas. (now we are using free tokens from a testnet)

  1. Click on the Subwallet icon.

  2. Copy the address of your wallet. Clicking on this icon.

  3. Search for the token "ROC" and click again on the copy icon. This will copy an address similar to "5E9sZJHejrpZ6Ge5srT3sio9yJTuqrCBBgcwKxf63yd3viER"

  4. Go to https://use.ink/faucet/ to ask for ROCs tokens and paste your address there and click "Request"

Step 3 | Interact with a smart contract πŸ•ΊπŸ»

  1. Go to https://opencolors.tomasrawski.com.ar/ and click on the arrow in the upper corner.

  2. Click on "Connect to Subwallet"

  3. Choose your account and click on "Connect"

  4. Now you would see your account connected to the site and you can disconnect when you want.

  5. Choose the colors of your dreams and click on "Add color".

  6. Approve the transaction that you are doing to the blockchain

    1. In less than a minute the transaction will be finalized and your color will be added at the end of the canvas.

Congratulations! You have just interacted with a smart contract in the Polkadot ecosystem πŸ™ŒπŸΌ πŸŽ‰ πŸ•ΊπŸ»

If you want to know more about the transaction you can see all the information of an interaction with the smart contract in the explorer: polkadot.js.org/apps/#/explorer/query/0x413..

When you add a color to the canvas, you are paying approximately 0.0005 ROC each time
